Clonakilty Show June 7th 2009

A pity these races were not better supported. As they started earlier than usual, there was a very big crowd watching at first, but a shower during the third race thinned it out.

• Maiden/Novice/Improver/Intermediate - 1. B. Barry's Supreme Hall (J. McSweeney), 6/4 fav; 2. P. Hayes's Watch Me Now Boys (G. Carey), 1/1 fav; 3. P. Hill's Hillside Hi-Ho (P. Hill), 2/1. 4 ran, 2l, 3l. 4th Gwyneth's Pride. NR Blatantly Pride, Ringo Star.
• Hall led from the start, and looked more like what her first season form promised.

• Class 000/005 - 1. K. O'Connell's Midnight Mover (Owner), 1/1 fav; 2. C. Hannon's Oakview Flash (M. Goggin), 3/1; 3. M. Hurley's Free Spirit (J. McSweeney), 5/1. 4 ran, 5l, 1/2l. 4th, Bonkerstotallynuts
• Flash led for most; but gave a slight skip just after halfway. Bonkers tried hard and got within half a length of Flash. Mover got a nice run up the inside as they headed into the last lap.

• Preferential Handicap (010/080) - 1. Patricia Carey's Destiny's Dream (G. Carey), 3/1; 2. B. Newman's Casimir Fabio (T. Murphy), 2/1; 3. Quill Bros's Tom's The Man (D. Murphy), 1/1 fav. 5 ran, 5l, 1L. 4th, Stoneriggs Quail
• Quail set a cracking pace with Fabio trying hard to reel him in. Dream was in 3rd until he took over on the back straight before heading into the last lap. There, Tom moved up to second but could not get closer. Fabio got back into the hunt in the closing stages.

• Grade A & B Saddle - 1. Kelleher Bros/J. Power's Flashdance (Lucy Kelleher), 1/3 fav; 2. Quill Bros's Sable Decision (S. Quill); 3. A. Hamilton's Safely Arrived (J. Goggin), 5/1. 3 ran, 7l, 4l. NR: CD's Boy, Stoneriggs Warrior
• Flash never looked even remotely in danger and led from the start.
