Castlehaven - March 9th 2008

Race 1. Haven Flying Sprint. 1,000 Euro.

Also Ran: Mr Dow Jones (T.O'Leary) -- S.P. 3/1, 4/5 Fav, 2/1. Dist.: 3l, 8l.

Joe seemed to be first away, but Flash soon took over and Joe had no answer.

Race 2. Novice/E. 700 Euro.

4 horses ran -- S.P. 4/5 Fav, 6/4, 3/1. Dist.: 3l, 10l.

Security led from the start. Baby beginner, Cam Leap, started badly. Interesting thing about this race was that Security did not win as easily as usual. Spike should go one better next time.

Race 3. Grade B. 1,000 Euro.

Also Ran: Create Gold (D.McCarthy), Do the Business (P.Hill), Frisco Lady (P.O'Brien), Macks Direct (M.Duggan), Mister Hill (J.Sheehy)-- S.P. 5/4 Fav, 6/4, 4/1. Dist.: Neck, 7l.

Dilly's Dragon made almost all but was caught on the line. Jake seemed to have every chance.

Race 4. Grade C. 800 Euro.

4 horses ran -- S.P. 6/4, 1/2 Fav, 5/2. Dist.: 8l, 2l.

The winner led them off, but Hero soon took it up. But at the last turn, Hero went very wide and had too much ground to make up.

Race 5. Grade D - Div 1 - 800 Euro.

Also Ran: Commander Matt (P.O'Brien), Swift Harrier (D.McCarthy)-- S.P. 1/2 Fav, 3/1, 6/1. Dist.: 5l, 1 1/2l.

Finch was in command almost from the start. Shuttle Buddy looked threatening and Swift Harrier also contended. Star tried hard but in the closing stages, Finch pulled away. I'd certainly give that little grey stable room.

Race 6. Grade D - Div 2  - 800 Euro

Also Ran: Magical Shadow (D.McCarthy) -- S.P. 6/4, 4/5 Fav, 4/1. Dist.: 1 1/2l, 8l.

Pride led for a while in the early stages. Then Spirit took it up, being really good at the turns. Jane turned badly at the first. She ran well but the post came too soon for her.

Race 7. Grade A. 1,500 Euro.

4 horses ran -- S.P. 5/4, 6/1, 3/1. Dist.: 10l, 12l.

Driven Storm broke at the start, while Fox was quick away. Mancini did not dawdle, but heading into half-way, Storm was pulled up. Pity. Mancini had no prob, Fox and Victory ran well enough.
