- N/E Young Clemency, Hillside Dream, Destinys Dream & Rathpeacon Lobelle.
- C/D The Blue Finch, Briwyns Charvis, Better by Design.
- A/B Coalford Jet, Pembroke Inky, Crown Direct.
Camp Races, Tralee, Co.Kerry - 22nd July 2007
- The races were surprisingly good, and most horses coped with the testing course. There was light rain for the first few races and then it cleared. There was
a good atmosphere, too, and as the results show, something for everyone. A couple of interesting newcomers, too.
- Class 019/074 (Preferential Handicap) - 1. J. O'Donovan's Bonkerstotallynuts (Owner), 3/1; 2. Patricia Carey's Destiny's Dream (G. Carey); 3. S.
Cronin/D. Daly's Dilly's In Command (J. McSweeney), 1/1fav. 6 ran, 1L,1 1/4l. NR: Coalford Victory
- Pembroke Inky was charge throughout most. Bonkers was in contention early on. Dilly's In Command challenged early(for him) but was not happy on the
going and inclined to skip. At the business end, Destiny's Dream arrived to take it up. He looked home and hosed but Bonkers rallied in the closing strides,
while Inky finished 4th.
- Class 010/019 - 1. N. Forbes's Crown Direct (J. McSweeney), 6/1; 2. P. Hill's Hillside Dream (P. Hill), 1/1 fav; 3. G. Cooke's Better By Design (T.
Murphy), 4/1. 6 ran, 3l, 10l.
- A well-deserved win for Crown Direct. Hillside Dream tried to make all, and looked as if he would succeed. He was stalked throughout by the winner who
powered clear on the home straight. Better By Design wasalways in contention but could not handle the going.
- Class 000/005 - 1. Anne Hill's Meadowbranch Katie(Owner), 3/1. 2. S. O'Reilly's Newtown Perdition (Amy O'Reilly), 3/1; 3. M.& P. Hennessy's Little
Spike (J. McSweeney), 6/4 fav. 6 ran, 10l, 2l.
- This was one for the ladies. Little Spike led until halfway around the penultimate lap. Here, Meadowbranch Katie forged clear, a bit earlier than usual for
her. Here also, Newtown Perdition went off stride briefly but was soon backpacing. He made up good ground, but not in time, while Spike will have
needed the race as it was his seasonal bow.
- Intermediate - 1. J. Caffrey's Matt's Mission (Owner),6/4 fav; 2. Kelleher Bros's The Blue Finch (M. Kelleher), 2/1; 3.C & C Syndicate's Thomas Grey
(J. Cross), 4/1. 6 ran,3l,1/2l.
- And this was one for the Dubs. Young Clemency led till nearly half way. He was hard-pressed by The Blue Finchwho finally prevailed. Then Dan The Man
arrived, but had given a skip just before and was clearly not at his best on the surface. Thomas Grey led very briefly but on the run-in, Matt's Mission
seemed to come out of nowhere and settle the issue.
- Novice/Improver - 1. K. Santry's Toys Art US (S. O'Reilly), 4/1; 2. K. O'Connell's Midnight Mover (Owner), 6/1; 3. P. Hill's Hillside Security (P. Hill),
6/1. 7 ran, 7l, 1/2l. (Joint favourites, Sands Cool Touch and Harrier's Decision finished out of the frame).
- The winner impressed in this. Hillside Security led until rounding for home. She looked secure enough until Toys made his final, telling move. Sands Cool
Touch threatened earlier, and Hard Times (4th) was also prominent. Midnight Mover left his challenge late.
- Maiden/Novice - 1. P. Hayes's Watch Me Now Boys (P. Hill), 3/1; M. O'Driscoll's Dylan Ryan (M. Goggin), 1/1 fav; 3.D. Behan's Talavary Dream (N.
Ryan), 2/1. 5 ran, 4l, 1/2l. NR: The Buachaill
- The winner is certainly one to watch! Dylan Ryan held sway throughout most. Watch was in close pursuit but around half-way, yielded to Talavary Dream.
Watch fought back, went neck and neck with Dylan and came out best. 4th place, Beauty Spot had a troubled passage but looks another one that will
make her mark.
- Grade A & B Saddle - 1. S. Cronin/D. Daly's Home Ambrose (S. Quill), 6/4 fav; 2. P. O'Donovan's Coalford Jet (M.O'Reilly), 3/1; 3. Dunmanway
Racing Club's Sharpe (J. Healy), 4/1. 5 ran, 10l, 15l.
- One for the Kingdom. Coalford Jet led until the business end, with Home Ambrose creeping closer. Going into the last lap, it was obvious that Ambrose
was going to prevail. Hello Fella was pulled up around halfway while Coalford James found it gruelling.
- Grade C & D - 1. L. Regan's Brywins Chavis (J. O'Reilly), 4/1; 2. J.Boyle's The Orient Express (Anne Hill), 6/4 jf; 3. Quill Bros's Sable Decision (S.
Quill), 6/4 jf. 5 ran, 1/2l, 5l.
- Brywins Chavis took it up from The Orient Express as they settled. The Orient Express gave chase, fell back a bit but rallied late on the straight to get close.
Sable Decision dawdled and left herself too much to do. Full marks to the winning first season jockey.
