Manch. 27th May 2007 - Assoc.Day.

The new venue at Manch was fabulous, and thanks to the Duggan family for its use. The course was over half a mile so each race was 1.25 miles. It got a bit cold but it was dry and there was a big crowd. The racing was good at Manch, and the news about the victories of Snatch and I'm Just Like Mum at Appleby was the icing on the cake. Among the beginners, All Inn and The Biscuit impressed, while Papa Joe was superlative

Wilsboro Gold led them off while Frisco Lady went off stride. Back In Business, despite his loose pole, was in early contention. The Biscuit was waited with but crept closer at the business end. Taking it up on the straight, he did just enough to win.

This was a re-run as in the original, Young Clemency slipped up just after the start and the race was called off. The Blue Finch led them off but broke early on and Hilton Genius was in a position to take it up. Sorting themselves out, Thomas Grey challenged and got to second behind Hilton Genius. The Blue Finch rallied, but there was no catching the leader.

As they settled, Stubby's Fool took over from Wilsboro Rose. Zidane went to the front as they approached the last turn on the first circuit and from there had the race in safe keeping. Getting into the last lap, Pembroke Inky challenged but could not prevail. Home Ambrose had always kept in touch and held off Destiny's Dream while Dilly's In Command challenged too late.
