Drimoleague. July 29th.
This was a fantastic day. The races were very good, and there was a terrific atmosphere. It was all very well organised, down to the racecard, which was
impressive. Even the dog show winners were all called out, which I am told does not usually happen. The barbecue was a standout, and the presentation area
looked lovely. All the kids seemed to be having a great time. What more could any one want in a race meeting?
- Open Handicap Final (Class 000/038) - 1. D. Sheridan's Damota Warrior (N. Stafford), 4/1; 2. Patricia Carey's Destiny's Dream (G. Carey), 4/1; 3. M.
& P. Hennessy's Little Spike (J. McSweeney), 6/1. 8 ran, nk, 1l. Also ran: Disraeli Quest (4th), 2/1fav; What A Man, Sable Decision, Springfield Chief,
Bytheway.
- Damota Warrior was waited with in this, as he let Disraeli Quest and Little Spike go head to head, to the detriment of both, until about 1f from home.
Destiny's Dream was also held up and he just failed to peg back the winner in his late effort.
- Jug Of Punch Qualifier (FFA) - 1. Quill Bros's Tom's The Man(D. Murphy), 6/4 fav; 2. Quill Bros's Stoneriggs Wizard (T. Murphy), 2/1; 3. S.
Cronin/D. Daly's Dilly's In Command (J. McSweeney), 6/1. 7 ran, 3l, 2l. NR: Stoneriggs Wiseman.
- Coalford James was the first to show; but Wizard soon powered to the front. As he did, Zidane also made his move, and stayed in the lead, followed by
Wizard, until rounding for the homestraight. Tom was creeping closer all the time while Dilly tried hard, at the business end, to get on terms. But Tom had
the measure of them all, on the day and only landed his telling blow in the closing stages.
- Class 018/038 - 1. Patricia Carey's Destiny's Dream (G. Carey), 2/1jf; 2. J. McCarthy's Bytheway (Owner), 5/1; 3. J. O'Donovan's Bonkerstotallynuts
(Owner), 2/1 jf. 8 ran, 4l,1L
- The renewed rivalry between Destiny's Dream and Bonkers did not really ensue. Crown Direct tried to make all, with I'mindoubletrouble in early
contention. Going into the last, Bonkers was in third but Destiny's Dream made steady headway until he took over. Bytheway, which seemed out of it,
powered up on the straight to separate the two rivals.
- Class 014/017 - Quill Bros's Sable Decision (D. Murphy), 5/2; 2. J. Manning's Springfield Chief (P. Manning jnr), 6/1; 3. S. Gallagher's Blackfield Scoot
(R. Shanahan), 1/1 fav; 7 ran,1l, 1/2l.
- Sable Decision followed Blackfield Scoot after the off, and when Scoot went off stride, the mare was able to take advantage. From there, shewas only
briefly threatened by Springfield Chief.
- Class 005/013 - 1. A. Hamilton's Disraeli Quest (Owner), 4/1; 2. C. McGrath/M. O'Donovan's What A Man (M.O'Donovan), 3/1; 3.S. O'Reilly's
Newtown Perdition (Amy O'Reilly), 1/1 fav. 7 ran, 1L, 4l.
- Newtown Perdition was first away but gave a skip. Disraeli Quest took it up and was never headed after. As they settled, Meadowbranch Katie made her
challenge;nearly got on terms, but had to give best. What A Man seemed to have left it very late.
- Class 000/003 - 1. D. Sheridan's Damota Warrior (N. Stafford), 1/1 fav; 2. M. & P. Hennessy's Little Spike (J. McSweeney), 9/4; 3. M. Healy's

Hi-Ho (P. Hill), 5/1. 4 ran, 3/4l,1/2l.
- Lakeview Security led from the start. Ringo Star lost gait at the off and never really settled. In the closing stages, The Biscuit looked as if he might prevail,
while Hi-Ho shows promise.
- Improver/Intermediate - 1. K. O'Connell's Midnight Mover(Owner), 6/1; 2. P. Hill's Hillside Security (P. Hill), 6/1; 3. G. Cooke's Dan The Man (Noreen
McSweeney),6/1. 7 ran, 1/2l, 1L.
- Midnight Mover and Hillside Security were in earlycontention while The Blue Finch was uneasy on the going. Hillside Security seemed to have the race in
safe keeping, but Midnight Mover, having seen off Young Clemency rallied to prove best.
- Maiden/Novice - 1. B. Newman's On The Run (D. Murphy), 1/1 fav; 2. R. Cleary/W. Jones's Artefact (R. Cleary),3/1; 3. M. O'Driscoll's Dylan Ryan (M.
Goggin),4/1. 7 ran, 1 1/2l, 1L.
- Artefact made most of the running but was stalked by On The Run. Watch Me Now Boys was effectively put out of it by a puncture. The winner had no
trouble overhauling Artefact as they headed for home.
- Maidens - 1. S. Buckley's Red Armbro (R. Shanahan), 4/7 fav; 2. C. O'Leary's The Buachaill (M. Goggin),3/1; 3. D. Hourigan's Talavary Jet (Owner),
