Central Track. May 13th 2007.
- A very wet and cold day at Central Track. Still, some interesting results, on what was nearly a sloppy surface.
- Class 018/080 - 1. Kelleher Bros's Stubby's Fool (M. Kelleher), 4/1; 2. Patricia Carey's Destiny's Dream (G. Carey), 8/1; 3. S. Cronin/D. Daly's Dilly's
In Command (D. Murphy), 6/1. 6 ran, 1 1/4l, 4l. 2m.6.3secs
- Porterstown Zach led from the start and opened up the distance. Destiny's Dream was always in pursuit and began to close when they were 2 from home.
Stoneriggs Wizard looked here to be in with a chance. At the business end, Dilly's In Command found an opening on the inside but came off stride. Here,
Stubby's Fool moved into second behind Destiny's Dream, which had taken it up. He went on to win cosily, with Porterstown Zach finishing 4th. The
winner finally showed his true class, while Dilly's In Command is one to note for the future.
- Class 000/018 - 1. M. Healy's Southlands Merlin (Owner), 5/2; 2. D. Ross's Cult Direct (S. Jennings), 2/1; 3. A. Greenhorn's Mister Hill (P. Kane, jr),
5/2. 5 ran, nk, 1L. 2m.14secs. (Papa Joe, 4/6 fav. passed the post first, but was disq. for taking the wrong course.)
- Cult Direct led for most, with Papa Joe in close touch. Southlands Merlin broke at the start but got back into things. Papa Joe found himself boxed in.
Mister Hill made a good effort but had to go too wide. Heading for home, it looked to be Cult Direct's race. Papa Joe, unable to find an opening, took to
the turf, and went to the front. Not a clever move. Note: Rebecca's Baron, drawn 2, started in the back because of his novice driver.
- Novice/Improver/Intermediate - 1. W. McInerney's Shannonside (Owner), 6/4; 2. Anne Hill's Meadowbranch Katie (Owner), 4/1; 3. A. Russell's
Spankos Boy (R. Shanahan), 4/5 fav. 6 ran, 4l,5l. 2m.14secs
- Spankos Boy was in charge until the run-in. Shannonside was alway in touch and made his move about 200 yards from the post. Once again,
Meadowbranch Katie challenged late for her novice driver - the pair are sure to go one better next time. Note: Hillside Security spooked shortly before
they lined up and was withdrawn.
- Maiden - 1. Power/Kelleher's All Inn (M. Kelleher), 2/5 fav; 2. Quill Bros's Harrier's Decision (D. Murphy), 4/1; 3. G. Carey's The Biscuit (Owner), 4/1.
5 ran, 5l, 7l. 2m.10secs
- Harrier's Decision led until 2 from home. The winner kept in touch and at the business end forged clear. The Biscuit broke briefly just after half-way.
- Grade C & D Saddle - 1. Quill Bros's Sable Decision (S. Quill), 3/1; 2. Shanahan Bros's Hilton Genius (Noreen McSweeney), 2/5 fav; 3. S. Buckley's
Perfect Red (P. Shanahan), 6/1. 5 ran, 7l, 1 1/2l. 2m.11secs.
- Hilton Genius led them off, but never looked really happy. He held sway until getting into the second half, but had no answer to Sable Decision when she
challenged. Perfect Red was the cause of a false start as she outran the starting car; she subsequently performed well enough to fill the frame for her jockey
who was riding in his first race.
