A very pleasant day out. Races were competitive, with front runners winning most of the time. Disraeli Quest was awarded turf horse of the year.
- Novice - 1. J. Shanahan's Lakeview Lobell (R. Shanahan), 4/5fav; 2. NCG Racing's Hard Times (J. McSweeney).3/1; 3. P. Kelly's Sands Cool Touch
(M.Goggin), 3/1. 5 ran, 5l, 2l.
- Lakeview Lobell broke at the start. Beauty Spot led until half-way round the 2nd last, when she lost gait. Lakeside Lobell who had got back pacing then
took it up and went on to win easily.
- Improver/Intermediate - 1. S. Buckley's Red Armbro (R. Shanahan), 4/5 fav; 2. C & C Syndicate's Thomas Grey (J. Cross), 4/1; 3. G. Cooke's Dan
The Man (M. Kelleher),3/1. 5 ran, 1/2l, 5l.
- Dylan Ryan was first to show but Red Armbro soon took over. Dan The Man flattered but gave a skip. Thomas Grey had kept in touch and showed a
good turn of foot in his late rally to take runner-up.
- Class 011/014 - 1. S. Gallagher's Blackfield Scoot (R. Shanahan), 4/5 fav; 2. Anne Hill's Meadowbranch Katie (M. Kelleher), 6/4 fav; 3. F. Brickley's
Tusk (T. O'Leary), 5/1. 6 ran, 7l, 10l.
- Blackfield Scoot led from the start and completed a treble for his driver who now gets the champion title. Duggan's Diplomat was in contention in the
earlystages as was Hillside Dream. Katie arrived late but the winner was in no danger.
- Class 018/021 - 1. Quill Bros's Sable Decision (D. Murphy), 2/1; 2. J. Boyle's The Orient Express (J. McSweeney), 6/4 fav; 3. J. O'Donovan's
Bonkerstotallynuts (Owner),4/1. 6 ran, 3/4l, 5l.
- Sable Decision was also in command from flagfall. Sharpe challenged on her outside, but to no avail. Mister Hill came off the back and got as far as the 3
slot. Crown Direct briefly looked threatening The late effort of The Orient Express and Bonkers were the more successful.
- Maiden/Novice - 1. C. O'Leary/N. Hurley's The Buachaill (M. Goggin), 1/1 fav; 2. J. McSweeney's Pure Mule (Owner), 6/4; P. Hayes's Watch Me
Now Boys (P. O'Driscoll), 4/1. 5 ran, 3l, 4l.
- Pure Mule was away fastest but the winner powered to the front after half a circuit. Watch Me also looked dangerous but was uneasy on the going.
- Class 000/010 - 1. M. & P. Hennessy's Little Spike (J. McSweeney), 1/2 fav; 2. D. Sheridan's Damota's Warrior (S. O'Reilly), 4/1; 3. Mary Bennett's
Saunders Alert (T. Murphy), 4/1. 6 ran, 6l, nk.
- Little Spike led from the start and was followed by Rebecca's Baron who displaced Mass Attack. After about a circuit, Saunders Alert challenged, got as
far as second, but went off stride. At the business end, Damota Warrior made his move and held off Saunders Alert for runner-up.
- Preferential Handicap (Class 030/052) - 1. T. Murphy's Coalford Victory (Owner), 3/1; 2. Patricia Carey's Destiny's Dream (G. Carey), 2/1; 3. S. & P.
Browell's Dream's Place (R. Shanahan), 3/1. 6 ran, hd, 1L.
- Coalford Victory led from the start. Springhill Chief gave chase while Flashdance was also prominent. Around half-way, Destiny's Dream got closer
travelling up the inside. On the straight he just failed to catch the winner, while Chief finished in 4th.
- Grade A & B Saddle- 1. T. Doyle's CP's Fantasy (Noreen McSweeney),4/1; 2. Quill Bros's Bon Camotion (S. Quill), 1/1 fav; 3. Caroline Salter's
Disraeli Quest (J. O'Callaghan), 5/4. 6 ran, 1l,12l.
- There was a false start in this. In the re-start, Coalford Jet was first away but Bon Camotion soon took it up. Disraeli Quest tracked him but could not
close. Around mid-point, CP's Fantasy moved up into second. With half a lap to go, the winner went into overdrive and although Bon Camotion did not
yield easily, he had to give best.
- Grade C & D - 1. A. Hamilton's Matty O (J.O'Callaghan),1/1 fav; 2. J. Boyle's The Orient Express(Anne Hill), 6/4; 3. Kelleher Bros's The Blue Finch (J.
Reid),4/1. 6 ran, 2l, 8l.
- Matty O led from the start. The Blue Finch kept in touch but heading for the second circuit, The Orient Express got serious. He joined issue a couple of
times but the winner saw him off. With one lap to go, The Blue Finch nearly came down but recovered well to fill the frame.
