Ballylickey. March 25th 2007.
- An enjoyable day's racing. There was intense interest in the performance of the two female trotters, Ebony Jane and Frisco Lady who were both going for a
hat-trick. Deirdre Goggin rode three winners, and has now surpassed John Sheehy for runner-up spot; it looks as if the post will come too soon for her for
in the title race. Dilly's Oasis deserved to win the "best-turned-out".
- Grade A: 1. C. Galvin's Hilltop Tuck (Deirdre Goggin), 1/2 fav; 2. P. O'Donovan's Coalford Connection (J.O'Donovan), 2/1; 3. H. Bennett's Coalford
James (M. Duggan),4/1. 4 ran, 5l ,6l.
- Not a particularly good race; the winner was almost a foregone conclusion. Coalford James led until turning in, where Hilltop Tuck, who was waited with,
pounced.
- Grade B: 1. Margie McSweeney's Home At Last (J. McSweeney), 1/2 fav; 2. Margaret Melvin/PO'Brien's Frisco Lady (P.O'Brien), 6/1; 3. Shanley
Racing's Just Flash(Noreen McSweeney), 6/1. 6 ran, 1/2l, 1L
- Best race of the day, as fans were waiting to see how the queen of trotters would do on her upgrade to B. Well, she was far from disgraced. Goldfella tried
to make all and was closely pursued by Home At Last. Frisco Lady kept in touch; try as she might, and she needed more distance and space, she could not
reel in the winner. Just Flash performed well to take third.
- Golden Mile (C & D Non Winners): 1. Daly/Twomey/ Jennings' Shuttle Buddy (J. O'Donovan), 4/5 fav; 2. F. O'Callaghan's Tina's Dream (P. Hill), 5/2;
3. G. Cooke's Direct Rocket (Noreen McSweeney), 5/2. 6 ran, 1/2l,1L
- A messy start in which Tina's Dream jumped the tape and then took a few paces to settle. Castlerosse Flyer was away as fast as her name. Heading for
home, the winner was in charge; full marks to Tina's Dream for getting back in the hunt.
- Grade C: 1. C.O'Sullivan's Travis (D. McCarthy),5/4 fav; 2. T. Doyle's The Punisher (J.Sheehy),3/1; 3. L. O'Brien's Commander Matt (P.O'Brien), 3/1.
6 ran, 1 1/4l,1/2l.
- The Punisher led for almost all, but was closely tracked by Travis. Commander Matt was always lying handy but could not close.
- Grade D: 1. P.O'Driscoll's Vyrnwy David (P.Hill), 4/5 fav; 2. Noreen McSweeney/Mary Forbes's Staly Princed (Noreen McSweeney),3/1; 3. S.
Buckley's Red Cam (T. O'Leary),4/1. 6 ran, 3/4l,2l.
- After the last turn, Staly Princed took it up from Current Supreme and ran his heart out. He could not withhold Vyrnwy David on the run-in, though. Red
Cam was disappointing.
- Grade E 1. C. Galvin's Teadies Dream (Deirdre Goggin), 1/1. 2. A. Hamilton's Ebony Jane (M. Duggan),4/5 fav. 2 ran,1 1/2l.
- Ebony Jane went off stride on the down hill after the turn; she made up tremendous ground after. These are two very good young horses.
- Novice: 1. B. Cronin's Chance Security (D. Goggin),1/1 fav;2. F. O'Callaghan's Gipsy Lady (P. Hill); 3.Sheba CC's Cam's Sheba (Noreen
McSweeney),3/1. 5 ran, 8l ,4l.
- Chance Security had no problem winningthis. Gipsy Lady put in a decent performance, and Pure Mule, who finished fifth, looks to have some talent.
