them trailing. Impressive.

was unsettled on the going.

The Fox set the pace but soon yielded to Jet. Home Ambrose followed them, and always looked the best of the three. He easily went to the front starting the last lap (of 4) and won
going away. The Fox should strip fitter next time while I'mindoubletrouble never really got in the hunt.

Artefact gave a short halfway around the first circuit. He recovered quickly and went on to win as he liked. Beauty Spot, in perhaps only her second race, performed well and looks a
star, while Glan Clettwr came out of nowhere and was not disgraced in 3rd. Talavary Jet was travelling well when he locked wheels with another sulky.

but was unable to make up the ground, while Zidane seemed to leave things late.
Monday, August 6th
- Donal Murphy: 2
- Tadhg Murphy: 2
- Pat Manning: 2
- Raymnond Shanahan, Alex Hamilton, Kieran Sheehy, Denis O'Reilly, Mike Kelleher: 1
- Murphy's Irish Stout Grand Prix Final: 1. Quill Bros's Stoneriggs Wizard (T. Murphy), 6/1; 2. Kelleher/Power's Flashdance (M. Kelleher), 7/2; 3. S.
Cronin/D. Daly's Home Ambrose (G. Carey),10/1; 4. W. McInerney/Anne Marie Prendergast's Papa Joe (K. Sheehy),5/2. 9 ran,hd,1L,1/2l.
- Bonkerstotallynuts set a cracking pace from the start, which changed the tenor of the race. CP's Fantasy took it up after about a lap and stayed in front until
around half-way, when Flashdance took charge. Papa Joe kept in touch and moved into second. Home Ambrose creptcloser and Stoneriggs Wizard also
began to move. On the straight for home, Flashdance was still in front but Wiz powered up to touch him off. A stewards' enquiry was held to decide if Wiz
had taken the ground of Home Ambrose, but the placings remained the same. Tom's The Man, 1/1 fav. never got into the hunt. The first four home are
super horses, and best of luch to the ladies' triumvirate that bought Papa Joe on Saturday night.
- Paddy Connolly Memorial Handicap Final: 1. J. Manning's Springfield Chief (P.Manning),3/1; 2. S. Gallagher's Blackfield Scoot (R. Shanahan), 1/1
fav;3. Quill Bros's Sable Decision (T. Murphy),12/1; 4. Anne Hill's Meadowbranch Katie (Owner), 7/1 8 ran, 6l,11/2l.
- The winner of this showed himself to be truly tough. Scoot led them off and opened up the distance. Chief gave chase and for the most of two laps was on
the outside but could not prevail. Scoot began to tire and turning for home Chief joined issue, prevailed, and remarkably, went on to win easily. Sable
Decision was far from disgraced as she had a lot to do. Best of luck to the local syndicate that bought Springfield Chief on Sunday night.
- Three-Year-Olds: 1.Kelleher/Power's All In (M. Kelleher), 1/6 fav; 2. G.Carey's The Biscuit (Owner), 6/1; 3. W. McKittrick's Marion Hall (K. Sheehy),
6/1. 4 ran, 15l, 7l.
- All In led them off on the rail. Ringo Star contended strongly in the early stages but lost gait. All In cruised for home, and Marion Hall looked as if she would
take runner-up. The Biscuit was getting closer and nearing the last bend, paced into second. But there was no catching the winner.
- Maidens: 1. Hurley/O'Reilly's Back In Business (D. O'Reilly), 3/1; 2. C. O'Leary's The Buachaill (M. Goggin), 4/5fav; 3. P. Kelly's Sands Cam Ocean
(Owner), 6/1. 5 ran, 1 1/2l, 15l.
- The Buachaill tried to make all and was only caught in the closing stages. The others had every chance but it was left to baby, Sands Cam Ocean to fill the
frame.
- Grade B Saddle: 1. Caroline Salter's Disraeli Quest (J. O'Callaghan), 6/4 fav; 2. Dunmanway Racing Club's I'mindoubletrouble (J. Healy), 4/1; 3. J.
Sheridan's Meadowbranch Jake (S. Quill), 4/1. 10 ran, 10l, 2l.
- Disraeli Quest never got into things in the Paddy Connolly final and so turned out in the Grade B. Here he struck the front almost immediately. Hello Fella
and Stoneriggs Wiseman contended early on, and about halfway, it looked as if Meadowbranch Jake might be a danger. But getting down to serious
business, Quest pulled away and handed his beginner jockey a win on his first effort. Well done.
Sunday, August 5th
First two home in each heat to qualify for the Final.
- Heat 1, Paddy Connolly Memorial Handicap - 1. L. O'Regan's Brywins Chavis (D. Murphy), 7/2; 2. M. & P. Hennessy's Little Spike (J.
McSweeney), 1/1 fav; 3. M. Healy's Southlands Merlin (Owner),4/1. 8 ran, 1 1/2l, 1/2l.
- Brywins Chavis led from the start. Mass Attack was in contention for a circuit and a half. Then Little Spike arrived and, as did Rebecca's Baron, who
looked threatening, before fading. Merlin left his challenge late.
- Heat 2 - 1. S. Gallagher's Blackfield Scoot (R. Shanahan), 4/5; 2. Anne Hill's Meadowbranch Katie (Owner), 4/1; 3. M. McDonald's Ayr Storm (K.
Sheehy), 6/1. 8 ran, 8l, 2l.
- This was a re-run. As they approached the first turn of the original start. Damota Warrior was deemed to have caused The Orient Express and What A
Man to slip up. In the re-start, Scoot was in front from start to finish, while Damota Warrior and What A Man went head to head. Warrior won that one,
but to no great avail. Katie and Storm kept their powder dry, and to far better effect.
- Heat 3 - 1. Caroline Salter's Disraeli Quest (A. Hamilton), 4/5 fav; 2. Delaney/Russell's Mister Hill (K. Sheehy), 5/2; 3. C. O'Sullivan's Joe Moorsley (M.
Goggin), 6/1. 6 ran, hd, 2l.
- Disraeli Quest set the pace as he likes to do. He was tracked by Hillside Dream. Yvonne's Princess showed briefly, but needed the race and will strip fitter.
At the business end, Mister Hill challenged but failed by a head to reel in the veteran.
- Heat 4 - 1. J. Manning's Springfield Chief (P. Manning), 1/1 fav; 2. Quill Bros's Sable Decision (D. Murphy), 4/1; 3. Dunmanway Racing Club's Sharpe
(S. Jennings), 4/1. 8 ran, 10l, 8l.
- Tusk was first to show, but Springfield Chief soon took it up. Stoneriggs Quail also looked in with a shout as they headed for the penultimate bend. Sable
Decision took her time getting into things while Sharpe seemed to come from nowhere.
The three home in each heat qualify for the Grand Prix Final.
- Heat 1, Murphy's IrishStout Open Handicap - 1. W. McInerney/Anne Marie Prendergast's Papa Joe (K. Sheehy), 1/2 fav; 2. J. O'Donovan's
Bonkerstotallynuts (Owner), 4/1; 3. S. Foran's CP's Fantasy (M. Brickley), 5/1. 7 ran, 7l, 4l.
- Cult Direct was first away at the off but CP's Fantasy soon took charge. Heading into the second full lap, Coalford Jet was in second. Going into the third,
Papa Joe forged clear. Bonkers began to creep closer and went into second on the backstraight for the last time. Bytheway who had been prominent early
on simply ran out of steam.
- Heat 2 - 1. Quill Bros's Tom's The Man (D. Murphy), 4/5 fav; 2. D. Daly/S. Cronin's Dilly's In Command (J. McSweeney), 2/1; 3. T. Murphy's Coalford
Victory (Owner), 4/1. 6 ran, 1L,10l.
- Tom's The Man impressed in this. He took over from Ferrari as they entered the last, having gradually got rid of his handicap. Dilly put in a nice
performance while Coalford Victory seemed to struggle to qualify.
- Heat 3 - 1. Quill Bros's Stoneriggs Wizard (T. Murphy),5/2; 2. Kelleher Bros's Flashdance (M. Kelleher),1/1 fav; 3. D. Daly/S. Cronin's Home Ambrose
(J. McSweeney), 5/1. 6 ran, 2l, 3l.
- Home Ambrose led briefly until Zidane took command after half a lap. He stayed there, while Pembroke Inky vied with Ambrose. Inky emerged best but
before long Ambrose usurped him. Destiny's Dream seemed to be lying handy. At the second last bend, before heading into the last circuit, there seemed to
be a bit of argy bargy, which hampered Flashdance and which caused Inky to break. Zidane was still in front, but by then, the Wizard was on the move.
Ambrose set off after him and Flashdance finally found room on the inside. He showed a great turn of foot to land second while Ambrose without doubt
was the toughest horse in the race.
- Grand Prix Finalists (as they qualified), and with guide prices for both finals, offered by Angelo Hannon
- Papa Joe, 2/1; Bonkerstotallynuts, 8/1; CP'S Fantasy, 20/1; Tom's The Man, 3/1; Dilly's In Command, 4/1; Coalford Victory, 10/1; Stoneriggs Wizard,
6/1; Flashdance, 2/1; Home Ambrose,12/1.
- Paddy Connolly Memorial (as they qualified): Brywins Chavis, 6/1; Little Spike, 6/1; Blackfield Scoot, 6/4; Meadowbranch Katie; Disraeli Quest, 4/1;
Mister Hill,4/1; Springfield Chief,2/1; Sable Decision, 6/1.
