Also Ran: Ted Striker (J.McSweeney) -- S.P. 1/4 fav, 3/1, 4/1, 6/1. Dist.: 3l, 10l

Ted Striker was first to show, with Goldfella in strong contention. But Coalford Victory soon took over, and went on to win. In a very fast time, Coalford Victory had to work a bit hard -- in that in his two previous wins he did not have to work at all. Just Flash did not have the best of starts nor is he 100% fluent at turns. Goldfella, in his step-up, did not do too badly at all.

Also Ran: Spitfire (D.McCarthy) -- S.P. 4/5fav, 6/1, 4/1, 6/1. Dist.: 2 1/2l, 2 1/2l.

Frisco Lady was back to her best in this. Heading for home, Shuttle Buddy looked threatening - a threat that did not materialise. The only real surprise in this race was that Spitfire, who was heavily supported - next best after Frisco Lady, made no impression.

Creategold tried to make all in this. In the early stages, he was pursued by Coalford Jet. Mickey Taker rounded the first turn behind Creategold. Heading for home, Creategold was still in front, but appeared to be struggling. Mickey Taker took it up while Coalford Jet simply could not close.

4 horses ran -- S.P. 1/3 fav; 5/1, 2/1, 6/1. Dist.: 6l, 6l.

Casey B was first to show, while Fidlin was waited with. Julius Kaern got a bad start and at halfway was the last of four. On the straight for home, Fidlin was in charge; Julius Kaern was in touch but at no point looked the horse he was at Colomane. Full marks here to that great road warrior, Casey B, the local bred who never runs a bad race.
