Jessie James seemed to have the race in safe keeping until after halfway when he went off stride. Eventually he got back into it and challenged Perfect Fella - who is beginning to shape up as a contender - to no avail.

Also Ran: Dilly's Oasis (T.O'Leary), Trackman (P.Hill) -- S.P. 4/1, 2/1, 1/2 Fav. Dist.: Neck, Neck.
Frisco Lady made most of the running in this. Trackman challenged briefly and Mass Attack was moved up into a good position early on. Getting serious, it looked as if biggest danger would be Mass Attack. But Greyfoot had got closer, and given a very good ride, showed more of her true class and talent in coming late and prevailing.

As they sorted themselves out, Shannonside took over from Milly's Dream. Hilton Genius was waited with and only took over after they had rounded the last. Teadie's Pride was unsettled from the start.

Cole's Decision made the early running; Crown Direct took over and looked the part until turning badly at the second last turn. After this, Famous Hill showed briefly but Cole's Decision took command again. But on the straight for home, Famous Hill forged clear while Hello Horatio performed decently to take runner-up.

A good race in which Smokeaway Jim, Empire Factor, and Duggan's Diplomat each held the lead at one time. Duggan's Diplomat looked home and hosed until Direct Rocket lived up to his name in the closing stages.

Also Ran: Casey B (P.Hill, 10/1), Gold Fella (10/1, T.O'Leary), He's The Man (5/1, J.Sheehy), Mack's Direct (reserve, replaning Cult Direct) (10/1, M.Duggan) -- S.P. 5/1, 1/2 Fav, 12/1, 8/1, 3/1, 10/1. Dist.: 8L, Neck
This was a very good All-Ireland. Hello Fella held sway in the early stages, tracked by Stoneriggs Rascal. He was still in front heading for the second turn, at which Goldfella was pulled up. Joe Moorsley approached this in front, but Stoneriggs Rascal came out of it in front. Heading for the last, Stoneriggs Rascal was still in front, but began to run out of steam. Fidlin had stayed in touch with the leaders, but fell back briefly after losing gait. At the last turn, he rounded in front, but Hello Fella turned really well here - going into it in fourth and coming out of it in second behind Fidlin. Then he forged clear, with Fidlin having no answer. Coalford Connection had been in fourth as they set off for the last turn and came with a strong late run that just failed to peg back Fidlin.
