This was a very good race, especially for one in which the winner made nearly all and won as he liked. Ted Striker was first away, followed by Lyons Mattison. But Coalford Victory was in front before very long, and before the first turn, and stayed there. Mack's Direct ran his heart out but could not get on terms. Just Flash left his challenge late and should get closer in future.

Here, Goldfella and Twenty4Seven renewed their rivalry, had a ding-dong throughout most, and reversed the Ballygurteen placings. Approaching the first turn, Better By Design was prominent, but slipped up.
