Camp - July 23rd 2006
- Race 1
- 1. K. O'Connell's Midnight Mover (Owner), 6/1
- 2. J. McCarthy's Duggan's Jester (D. McCarthy), 6/4 fav;
- 3. J. Morgan's Nice Guy Tom (S. O'Reilly), 5/1
- 4. C. Galvin's Teadies Pride (D. Hourigan), 6/1. 10l, 12l Also ran: Bobby's Pearl, Wilsboro Gold. NR: Nana Moon.
- Midnight Mover led from the start. Bobby's Pearl and Wilsboro Gold were in early contention but were uneasy on the going. Duggan's Jester was the main
threat, but when he got into a challenging position at the business end, lost gait.
- Race 2
- 1. P. Hill's Hillside Security (P. Hill), 5/1
- 2. K. O'Connell's Posh Paddy (Owner), 6/4 fav.
- 3. J. Nicholson's Dan The Man (Noreen McSweeney), 6/1.
- 4. C. McGrath's What A Man (M. O'Donovan), 2/1. nk, 1/2l. Also ran: Celtic Harrier, Buddy, Lana Haw Lea.
- Celtic Harrier led them off but went off stride nearing the end of the first lap. Posh Paddy took it up and stayed in front until the dying strides, when Hillside
Security, which had been getting closer, got her neck in front. A good performance by Dan The Man - one to watch.
- Race 3
- 1. J. O'Mahony's Glan Teifi (S. Jennings), 2/1
- 2. Kelleher Bros's Meadowbranch Katie (M. Kelleher), 6/1
- 3. K.Myles' Rebecca's Baron (T. Murphy), 5/1
- 4. NCG Racing's Young Clemency (J. McSweeney), 6/4 fav. 4l, 1/2l Also ran: Alberta, Brywins Jarvis, Enorm Girl.
- Alberta led until going into the last bend of the final (of 3) circuit. She was followed throughout most by Young Clemency while Glan Teifi kept in touch.
Heading into the last lap, these three were abreast. Alberta prevailed but had to yield when Glan Teifi made his final challenge. Meadowbranch Katie -
looking like her old self, but minus blinkers and head check - also contended late, as did Rebecca's Baron. This pair will go closer next time.
- Race 4
- 1. M. O'Driscoll's Staly Princed (J. McSweeney). 5/1
- 2. S. Cronin's Difficult Decision (T. Murphy), 3/1
- 3. P. Hennessy/J. O'Sullivan's Yvonne's Princess (D. Murphy), 1/2 fav.
- 4. MCT Racing's Free Spirit (G. Carey), 5/1. 2 1/2l, 1 1/2l. Also ran: The Bugler, Rianne's Princess
- Staly Princed led from the start and was followed throughout most by Difficult Decision, an even more seasoned campaigner. Getting serious, Yvonne's
Princess tried to get on terms with Difficult Decision but was slightly edgy on the going - a surface that did not bother the two leading veterans in the
slightest.
- Race 5
- 1. D. Murphy's You Are The Man (Owner), 4/5 fav.
- 2. P.Hill's Hillside Dream (P. Hill), 3/1
- 3. B. Barry's Wheatley Harrier (J. McSweeney), 4/1.
- 4. Rosetree Farm's Stoneriggs Vanity (M. Williamson), 10/1. 1L, 1/2l. Also ran: The Orient Express, Henry Lee Sota.
- You Are The Man also made all the running, his driver always looking confident. Hillside Dream gave chase but found himself at times on the rail with
nowhere to go. A decent performance from Wheatley Harrier while Stoneriggs Vanity dawdled until the straight.
- Race 6
- 1. Patricia Carey's Destiny's Dream (G. Carey), 3/1
- 2. J. P. O'Donovan's Coalford Jet (Amy O'Reilly), 4/5 fav;
- 3. Marge McSweeney's Home At Last (J. McSweeney), 5/2
- 4. T. O'Leary's Crown Direct (Owner), 6/1. 2l, 1 1/2l. Also ran: Sharpe, Willsboro Rose
- Destiny's Dream was another start to finish winner. He was followed by Home At Last and on the rail, Coalford Jet. Wilsboro Rose and Sharpe seemed to
have got slightly tangled early on. Half-way round the last, Coalford Jet made his move, and gave chase to the leader, after he had seen off Home At Last.
Not in time, though, to close on Destiny's Dream.
- Race 7
- 1. F. Quill's Tom's The Man (D. Murphy), 4/5 fav.
- 2. Quill Bros's Stoneriggs Wizard (T.Murphy), 3/1
- 3. Kelleher Bros's Newtown Commander (Amy O'Reilly), 3/1
- 4. T. Doyle's Coalford Wizard (K. Sheehy), 6/1. 1/2l, 1/2l. Also ran: The Blue Fox (5th); Zidane.
- This was a decent Jug. Newtown Commander led until late on the run-in. Stoneriggs Wizard did most of the contending, on the outside, but could not
prevail. Tom's The Man lay handy in third. The Blue Fox gave a skip early on, went round most in 4th place but could not improve on this. Strides from the
post, Tom's The Man made his telling move, resulting in a blanket finish of the first three which would do credit to the final.
- Race 8
- 1. Kelleher Bros's Meadowbranch Jake (J. Reid), 1/2 fav.
- 2. G. Cooke's Better By Design (Noreen McSweeney), 5/2
- 3. M. Goggin's Only Still (Deirdre Goggin), 4/1. 5l, dist. Also ran: Sable Decision, p.u.
- This was a re-run and something of a non-event. In the first, approaching the start of the second circuit, favourite, Bytheway slipped up, dislodging his
jockey, who was later taken to hospital for a check-up, but whose injuries were not thought to be serious. In the re-run, Meadowbranch Jake was red hot
favourite, had at times, to work a bit hard to hold off Better By Design. Towards the end of the first lap, the jockey of serious contender, Sable Decision,
lost his helmet and pulled up. Only Still did not act on the going.
