On The Run lost gait at the start and a little later, Thomas Grey, at the back of the field, also went off stride. As the race went on, Posh Paddy and Merrington JR got closer. But Buddy was determined to have his day; On The Run did not enjoy the best of trips while Willsboro showed improvement.

Perfect Red - another start to finish winner. She came off stride briefly on the back straight but was far enough ahead for it not to matter, and she quickly enough found her legs. Enorm Girl was in second until they entered the last lap. Meadowbranch Katie never looked a threat.

Cole's Decision led them off and he was followed by Staly Princed, with Yvonne's Princess tucked on the rail in third. Around half-way, Direct Glance burst through from the back. Heading for the penultimate bend, Yvonne's Princess, still on the rail crept closer. On the straight, she was switched to the outside but had left herself too much to do.

Better By Design took charge at the start and retained control, while Duggan's Diplomat went off stride. Cult Direct gave chase to the leader, but could not get on terms. Free Spirit moved up into second as they entered the last. Hillside Dream looked poised to challenge but it was Stoneriggs Vanity who came with a late rally for second. This contending behind him was all the same to Better By Design, who had plenty in hand at the line.

Also Ran: Sharpe (S.Jennings Snr), Bytheway (J.McCarthy), Willsboro Rose (JJ.McLeod), The Blue Fox (4/6 Fav, P.Hill) -- S.P. 4/1, 8/1, 4/1, 6/1. Dist.: 1/2L, 3L, 1/2L.

Home At Last went to the head of affairs at flagfall and Bytheway quickly went to join issue. Destiny's Dream was tucked nicely in behind the leading pair. They continued like this until getting into the last circuit, when Bytheway began to run out of steam. Willsboro Rose got closer; Home At Last was beginning to feel the pressure and Destiny's Dream took it up. On the back straight for the final time, Zidane, happy enough to dawdle, began his move and made progress on the inside. On the run-in, Destiny's Dream looked the winner but had no answer to Zidane, which, switched to the outside, displayed a blistering turn of foot. The Blue Fox, 4/6 favourite, never got into the hunt.
