ITHRF STANDARDBREDS AT THE BANTRY SHOW - WE MADE AN IMPRESSION!

Sunday last, the word "Standardbred" was well heard in West Cork. A massive step forward to integrating into Horse Racing Ireland! After 4 Agricultural Shows this year, the breeders and owners of our mares significantly established themselves within the purebred horse classes. The classes: "STAGBI registered Mares with or without foal at foot with free flowing manes and tails" and "Progeny of this class" have firmly become  a permanent part of Cork Equine Show classes.

Bantry Show: Our classes were called with several good advantages: The weather had improved mightily! The organizers of the Show perfectly timed the calling of our classes between the two major Championship Horse Finals of the Show to the neighbouring Ring. The Horse Class commentator, Michael Ronan, kindly agreed to read paragraphs from the Standardbred spec-sheet (printed from this ITHRF website) over the microphone. These same spec-sheets were also handed out to the huge gathering of spectators who started to discuss "STAGBI" and "Standardbred".  And then the showing ..... what a superb impression! Seven mares and Five foals!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

In closing: The West Cork Horse Breeder Association would welcome memberships of the breeders of the Standardbreds!!
