ALL IRELAND SADDLE CHAMPIONSHIP AT DRIMOLEAGUE, JUNE 29th
The distance is likely to be 1.25 miles, and the course is testing. No jockeys have as yet been declared, but of some of the probable riders who have won this
before, going back ten years: Johnny O'Callaghan is trying for back to back wins; John Reid won this in 2006 with The Blue Fox; Deirdre Goggin achieved a
hat-trick 2003/2005; David Brickley won with Bright Sun in 2002 and Rhiw Patrol in 1999; Noreen McSweeney and Morfa Duke did it in 2001;
- CP'S FANTASY ('01 b.g. Hopping High/CPR)
- Was 3rd in Gr. B at Central Track on Whit weekend; 3rd on turf in 020/038 at Dunmanway; very close 2nd to Matty O in Laddie at CT. Could play a
hand in the finish.
- CULT DIRECT ('98 br. g. Direct Current/Cult Countess)
- Was unpl. in Laddie; lightly campaigned this term; was 3rd in Gr A & B here last year, so can handle the course.
- DISRAELI QUEST ('94 b.g. Disraeli Hanover/Country Rosette)
- Was 4th in A & B at CT June 15th; won same at Clon Show; 4th in handicap final at CT at Whit; reigning saddle champion; won 005/013 here last year,
so can handle course. He's as sprightly as ever and will be well fancied.
- DREAM'S PLACE (01 dk b.g. Southwest Art/Coalford Dream)
- Impressed when getting back into things to finish 2nd behind Flashdance in Grade A & B at CT on June 15th. Was 2nd behind Kouros Boy in Grand Prix
final at CT at Whit; at the least, will go close.
- FLASHDANCE ('02, Chaps/Perfect Joy)
- Won A & B at CT on June 15th; won preferential at Dunmanway on May 11th; qual. for Grand Prix but did not run; many will be trying to decide between
him and Dream's Place.
- HOME AMBROSE (00, b. Armbro Harrier/Flighty Girl)
- Was close 2nd to Disraeli Quest in A & B at Clon Show; 2nd in Grade B to Matty O at CT at Whit; just failed to peg back Disraeli Quest in All-Ireland at
Caheragh last year; will run a big race.
- MATTY O ('01, b.g. Hopping High/Red Rosette)
- Collared Spanko's Boy in the final few strides in Grade C & D at CT on June 15th; won Grade B at CT in 2m.01; won C & D the previous day; if he
handles the going, will be hard to oppose.
- MR. DOW JONES ('00, dk.b.g. Armbro Harrier/Saunders Jacquie)
- Was unplaced in 024/043 at CT on June 15; he is more of a turf specialist and this course could suit
- OAKVIEW FLASH ('99, ch.g. Today's Man/Prima Donna
- Was 2nd in 000/009 at CT on June 15, having made up a lot of ground; 3rd in A & B at Clon Show; unpl. in Laddie; distance will suit; could play a hand in
the finish.
-
- TRAVIS ('99. ch.g. Raque Bogart/Tallulah Haw Lea)
- Unpl. in A & B at Clon Show; looks to be outclassed here.
- ZIDANE ('99, dk.b. Raque Bogart/Three Cheers
- Was 3rd behind Flashdance and Dream's Place in A & B at CT on June 15th; 4th in Grade B at CT at Whit; 4th in Laddie and 3rd in preferential at
Dunmanway. Could feature in the finish if he handles the course.
- WITHDRAWN - SPANKO'S BOY ('02, b. Blatantly Bald/Beauty Factor
- Had to give best to Matty O in C & D at CT on June 15th; good winner of same at Clon Show; won intermediate at CT at Whit; 2nd to Matty O in C & D
there; won imp/int at Dunmanway; 2nd in that at CT on May 4th. Will go close.
